Bell Wins
Pig Progs
By JOHN MARKON
T. "Champ" Bell, fourth-year
man in the College from
Staunton, guessed correctly on
seven of ten bowl games and
won this year's Cavalier Daily
Pigskin Prognostications
championship by three games
over defending titlist John
Markon.
Mr. Bell, a confirmed
"favorites" player, selected his
upsets just judiciously enough
to win the contest in his
last-chance year. Mr. Bell is an
ex-Sports Editor of the CD.
Mr. Markon, the CD's
current Sports Editor and a
third-year man in the College,
finished two games ahead of
Ernest Dempsey, Steve Gaske
and Bill "Sugar Bear" Berno,
all of whom tied for third place
and rounded out the first
division.
The final standings:
Tom Bell | 86-34 |
John Markon | 83-37 |
Bill Berno | 81-39 |
Ernest Dempsey | 81-39 |
Steve Gaske | 81-39 |
Randy Wert | 78-42 |
Davis Marshall | 77-43 |
Barney Cooke | 76-44 |
Fletcher Thompson | 76-44 |
Doug Doughty | 75-45 |
