Keglers Bowl Over
Richmond, 66-24

By ALAN ALTSCHULER

The Virginia bowling team
evened up its record Saturday
by handily defeating the
University of Richmond's
squad 66-24.

Virginia took a 20-12 lead
after the second game, was
never headed, and breezed to
their first victory of the season.

Second year-man Andy
Humm of Virginia led the
keglers, rolling a 949 for the
match, including games of 225
and 221.

Virginia had dropped their
opener two Saturdays ago to
the University of Maryland.

Maryland swept the first
game, taking a 16-0 lead, then
hung on as Virginia battled
back to tie the match at 32
apiece after the fourth game.
Maryland put it together in the
final game, including scores of
226, 222, and 203, winning the
match 52-38.

Virginia (1-1) now trails
Maryland (1-0) and Duke (1-0)
by one half a game in the
northern division of the
Southern Intercollegiate
Conference. Richmond is
winless after two matches and
VPI has yet to open its season.

Virginia hosts Duke in their
home opener this Saturday.
The match will begin at noon
at Mountain Bowl.
