Letters To The Editor

your wonderful magazine can
give to me.

My parents reside in
Beyrouth, Lebanon and since
they cannot write or speak
English it closes the avenue of
correspondence between us, so
I do not receive letters from
them either. I am 24 years old,
I have been in this country for
6 years, and was born in
Damascus, Syria. I am a former
graduate from the University
of Virginia, where I majored in
language, math and electronic
engineering.

It is not sympathy that I
seek, but I am asking you in
these last few hours of my life,
to please do all you can to help
me, for you see, I need to hear
from the American people. I am
white, 24 years old, 6 feet tall,
with deep brown eyes and hair
to match, 190 pounds in weigh
and single.

I am of course a monthly
reader of the digest. I was
buying your magazine even
before I could read or write
English. I faithfully promise to
answer all letters from both
young and old, regardless of
quantity.

I love our great America
and I only regret that God has
brought me so many thousands
of miles to perish on soil that I
so dearly love. If there are any
charges for the ad, please let
me know how much they are, I
will send you the money.

In closing I would like to
ask our most mercurial Saviour
to always bestow His blessings
upon all of you at Reader's
Digest
for you efforts and
interests in my request for
pen-pals. Please try to put my
article in the 1973 July issue
and if at all possible, try to
send me a letter of
acknowledgment.

Somehow, I have God's
confidence that you will
consider my request and His
confidence is the greatest of
all.
