Cranberg Calls
Dismissal Unfair

When based on considerations
violative of academic freedom."

In December of last year, Mr.
Cranberg complained to a
committee of the Board of Visitors
about his dismissal. The Visitors
approved the dismissal last Friday.

Mr. Cranberg stated that the
"issue of the post of principal
investigator was more important
than other issues. It plays an
extremely important role in federal
support of research," he added.

Another issue that Mr. Cranberg
pointed out was the "authority of
the University to place limits on
this principal investigator."

Leigh B. Middleditch, Jr., the
special legal counsel to the University,
could not be reached for
comment on the suit.

Mr. Cranberg is best known for
the Cranberg hypothesis advanced
in 1952 which explains the electrical
destruction in vacuums.
