experience anxiety and
frustration. Often the anxiety
makes it difficult for the
student to concentrate on
studies, and he tends to
withdraw even further from
life as he becomes depressed.

Depression, anxiety,
frustration and loneliness often
become adjuncts to University
life for students. The academic
pressures of paper deadlines,
exams, and class performance
are added to new and
sometimes unexpected social
pressures which make it hard
for a student to fulfill his
emotional needs for attention,
approval and love.

As Kilgore Trout said in
God Bless You, Mr. Rosewater,
"people can use all the uncritical
love they can get"-something
which is difficult to find at the
University.
