The men were separated form
the boys last week as a major shift
in the standings occurred. Pacing
the CD Panel of Experts are "men"
Hugh Carter, Ernest Dempsey, John
Markon and Randy Wert, while
challenging "boys" include Hugh
Antrim and Doug Doughty,
ex-leaders, Tom Bell, Barney Cooke
and Phil Nachman. Davis Marshall
is, alas, still prepubescent.

Unanimous selections this week
are South Carolina over Maryland in
Columbia and the Fighting Irish of
Notre Dame over North Carolina at
South Bend.

N.C. State at Duke would have
been a unanimous choice except for
the efforts of Bill Nachman, loyal
State rooter. The other nine, all
burned by Duke's loss last week,
are willing to forgive and forget.

Teebell, Dempsey and Carter
support Wake Forest over visiting
Tulsa. Wake's surprise loss last week
also smoked the Board from end to
end and, leaving aside the three
renegades, we're less willing to
forgive in the Deacon's case.

Inter-state rivals Virginia Tech
and William & Mary collide in
Blacksburg with only Nachman and
John Markon picking the Turkeys.
Exmour scored big with an Upset
Special on Tulane last week and
bids to do it one more time.

A big game in the Southland
matches once-beaten Tennessee and
undefeated Alabama. Nachman
follows Randy Wert's lead and
picks the Volunteers while the
other eight denounce it as a
"Wertless" pick and look for the
Crimson Tide to roll.

Five seers select Texas over
Arkansas in the Southwest
Conference's biggie with an equal
number turning thumbs down on
the Longhorns and nominating the
Razorbacks.

Only Nachman and Marshall see
Colorado upsetting Oklahoma and
Da Nach, shooting his wad this
week, even loses Marshall's brand of
support when he picks Syracuse
over Penn State. Only Hugh Antrim
likes Army's long gray line against
Air Force in the Rockies.
