Bio. Professor
Husted Dies
Progress quotes police as saying,

On March 26 death claimed
long-time Professor of biology
Ladley Husted. A native of New
York State, Mr. Husted received his
bachelor's degree from Oberlin
College, and his doctorate from the
University before joining the
faculty in 1937 as an assistant
professor of biology.
Active in many research projects
and organizations related to the
field of biology, Mr. Husted served
as chairman of the Department of
Biology from 1949 to 1953. He
remained active in the classroom
until his death. One of his students,
Herbert Vitale, reflected on the
professor's passing, "Dr. Husted
was always a kind and sensitive
gentleman who demonstrated by
deed honest scientific endeavor and
an insatiable curiosity about the
world.
Mr. Husted is survived by his
wife, Mrs. Katherine Funkhouser
Husted, and a son, Robert Ladley
Huated of Mercersburg,
Pennsylvania.
