Summer Institute At Salamanca
Taught By University Professors

The University will hold its third
institute in Salamanca, Spain, this
summer for up to 70 graduate and
undergraduate students.

The program, scheduled for
June 17 to August 25, includes
travel throughout Spain as well as
formal classroom instruction for
academic credit.

Students will visit nine cities in
Spain, including Granada, Madrid,
Cordoba and Santander. English
and Spanish speaking guides will
give tour lectures and the institute
staff will emphasize the cultural,
historical and literary backgrounds
of the areas visited.

From June 30 to August 20,
Salamanca will be headquarters for
the program. Participants enrolled
for academic credit will attend
classes offered by the University of
Salamanca and by University of
Virginia professors on the staff.

An undergraduate course in
advanced intermediate Spanish and
a graduate course in Spanish literature
will be taught by Arnold A.
Del Greco, professor of Spanish at
the University and director of the
institute. In addition, a course in
architecture and allied arts of the
region will be offered for the first
time by Kenneth White, associate
professor of architecture at the
University.
