that William G. Broaddus, a
state assistant attorney general,
disputed at last Monday's
hearing.

D. Patrick Lacy Jr., another
state assistant attorney general,
pointed out that Mrs. Bright
could have asked the school
board of visitors to review her
dismissal, but she did not.

Mr. Broaddus and Mr. Lacy
reiterated a previous offer from
Mary Washington to Mrs.
Bright that she could return
and make up missed
examinations if she agreed to
abide by the honor system. In
a previous court hearing, Mr.
Buxton said she refused to
accept the code if she
returned.
