the top 15 per cent of his class
and a fourth-yearman in the top
25 per cent. Both are selected
"in recognition of high
scholastic attainments, service
to the University of Virginia,
and of promise of future
advancement in the intellectual
field," according to The
Colonnades. Graduate
students, members of the
faculty and alumni are chosen
on the basis of excellence in
their field and contribution to
the University.

Cauthen Jr. moved that the
Raven Society Council
consider the following
amendments to the
Constitution and By-Laws:

1) that more than three
members be elected annually
from the faculty-and at the
discretion of the Council a
recommendation that the
number be increased with a
maximum of ten.

2) that at least a minimum
of ten per cent of each
undergraduate division of the
University be nominated, at
least five per cent of the
students in their last year and
five per cent in their
next-to-last year, with any
number, at the discretion of
the nominating committee,
recommended for election.
