Outings

Two outings will be held this
Sunday in connection with the
Virginia Improved Environment
Week (VIEW). Both are open to the
public and are intended to awaken
interest in the rapidly deteriorating
environment.

The first trip, sponsored by the
University's Outing Club and the
Charlottesville-Albemarle Girl
Scouts, will consist of a "nature
walk" on the Blue Ridge.

Anyone interested is invited to
bring a lunch and meet at the Ice
House at Barracks Road Shopping
Center Sunday afternoon at 12:30.
There will be an auto caravan
leaving at that time, hopefully with
space available for anyone not
having access to a cat.

The second outing is an Anti-Pollution
walk, led by Robert
Merckle, who is an instructor in the
Experimental University. The walk
will leave at 1 Sunday afternoon
from the interstate Rt. 64 construction
at Va. Rt. 20 (Monticello
Road) south of town.

Highlights of this outing will
include looks at the dump, polluted
streams, and a general view of
Charlottesville as they will be seen
by visitors passing through on the
Interstate Highway when it is
completed.
