Commerce School Students
Hold Accounting Forum

The McIntire School of Commerce
of the University is holding
its first Accounting Forum of the
academic year today. The Accounting
Forum was instituted in
1968 to bring together Commerce
School faculty, Commerce students
concentrating in accounting, and
leading accounting practitioners to
participate in discussions of current
accounting issues.

Past speakers at sessions of the
Forum have included Mr. Andrew
Barr, Chief Accountant of the
Securities and Exchange Commission,
and Dr. Herbert E. Miller,
Professor of Accounting at Michigan
State University.

The speaker for today's program
will be Robert K. Mautz, Professor
of Accountancy at the University
of Illinois. Mr. Mautz is the author
of the book "Financial Reporting
by Diversified Companies" recently
published by the Financial Executives
Institute.

He is a past president of the
American Accounting Association
and was the initial holder of the
American Institute of Certified
Public Accountants' Distinguished
Professorship in Accounting. Mr.
Mautz's topic will be "Resolution
of Accounting Issues."

In addition to faculty and
students of the McIntire School of
Commerce, attending the Forum
will be the officers of the Virginia
Society of Certified Public Accountants,
partners of certified
public accounting firms located in
the state of Virginia and in
Washington, D.C. area, and corporate
controllers and vice presidents
from firms both within the
state and outside of the state.
