University of Hong Kong.

Mr. Coughlin will teach at
the Chinese University and will
conduct research on the
urbanization of Hong Kong
during his stay there. He lived
in Hong Kong for a two-year
period some 15 years ago, and
has published a number of
works on aspects of Asia,
ranging in subject from the
status of women in Vietnam to
the Chinese in Thailand to
Southeast Asian birth studies.

Prior to his assumption of
duties in Hong Kong, Mr.
Coughlin will take part in
August in an urbanization
workshop of American and
Korean scholars in Seoul,
Korea. His participation in the
workshop will be sponsored by
the Smithsonian Institution of
Washington, D.C.
