Dear Sir:

Obviously the relations
between the Security Police
and the students are somewhat
less than idea. I feel that some
of this animosity could be
alleviated if the students had a
better understanding of the
role of the Security Police, the
pressures placed upon them by
the administration, and their
attitudes in general.

One solution might be to
allow students to ride or walk
with Security Officers on their
routine patrols, a plan that has
been tried with some success
among high school students in
Northern Virginia.

This would hardly cure all
the mutual ill-will, especially in
the case of rich, lazy students
who think that they are better
than Security Officers because
their fathers are rich, but it
certainly wouldn't hurt.
