Faculty Changes Add New Dimension

Woody, Professor of Romance
Languages and assistant dean of the
College of Arts and Sciences.

The honorary rank of professor
emeritus is bestowed upon certain
full professors who are retiring
between the ages of 65 and 70 and
have served the
University for at least 15 years.
Candidates are nominated by
University President Edgar F.
Shannon Jr.

Dr. Crutchfield had authored
numerous papers dealing with
neurological surgery and also
developed several new techniques
for the treatment of fracture and
fracture dislocation. He is a former
vice-president of the American
Association of Neurological
Surgeons.

Dr. Hsu has concentrated his
studies in the area of tropical,
infectious, parasitic, and fungoid
diseases. He will continue his
research with members of the
department of Dermatology on
tissue changes.

Mr. Ludwig, who is a former
president of the American Council
of Administrators of Health,
Physical Education and Recreation,
introduced soccer at the University
and coached successful teams for
10 years.

Mr. Woody is a member of Phi
Beta Kappa, Omicron Delta Kappa,
and the Raven Society. He was the
first professor to receive the
Alumni Association's Distinguished
Professor Award in recognition of
his accomplishments as a "master
teacher." He also served as
chairman of the University's
Blue-Ribbon Faculty Committee to
consider the admission of women
to the College.

Frank W. McCulloch, chairman
of the National Labor Relations
Board from 1961 to 1970, is a
professor in the school of Law as
well as a member of the
University's Center for Advanced
Studies.
