Two Former Students
Convicted For Drugs

Two former University students.
Bruce Minton and William T.
Mattheny, Jr., were sentenced to a
total of 56 years after being
convicted on drug charges earlier
this week.

Mr. Minton, 23, was sentenced
to 32 years by Corporation Court
Judge George Coles.

Mr. Mattheny, 19, was
sentenced to 24 years total. This
included 20 years for possession of
over 25 grains of marijuana; three
years for selling marijuana; and one
year and a $100 fine for possession
of a hallucinogenic drug.

Mr. Minton pleaded guilty to all
charges except to the charge of
possessing 25 grains of marijuana.
He waived jury trial on all charges.

The 20 year sentences received
by both men were the minimum
Judge Coles was allowed to give
under state law.

Although the sentences are to
run consecutively, Judge Coles took
under advisement a motion to
suspend part of the sentences at a
later date.

The offenses took place last
April and May when city and state
police arrested 11 in a drug
roundup.
