"On the 18th of April"
Premiers Tomorrow

The 1970 Libel Show, a general
takeoff by students of the Law
School on their faculty, opens at
8:15 p.m. Saturday in Cabell Hall
Auditorium.

The 61st annual show, entitled
"On the 18th of April," has been
sold out since the first day tickets
went on sale. The shows are
designed to work in references in
the form of parodies, jokes, or
whatever, to all members of the
Law School faculty and administration.

According to the Virginia Law
Weekly, the production this year
centers on the activities of the
number one law firm in the nation,
and the number one attorney,
Monvin Paulseye (played by Arthur
H. Horowitz). Paulseye must defend
Paul Revere Killer (Francis G.
Gordon III), who is being persecuted
by District Attorney Harley
Rye, (Gerald J. McFarlane).

A complication comes when a
leaking gas pipeline threatens to
burn down the city, which concerns
Mr. Howard (Mark E. Sullivan).

Somehow the plot gets around
to include Mrs. Gall Marshall
(Jeanne F. Ehrhardt), a convicted
topless dancer; some more attorneys,
Mr. Boyd (Francis P. Wolff,
Jr.) and Mr. Manson (Thomas J.
Igor); and "tennis-loving" Mr.
Spies, and "trauma-loving" Dr. Von
Freudajung (both by Christopher J.
Sumner).

An international justice (Marion
H. Allen), a conscientious office
worker (Mrs. Anita M' Steele),
Judge Bernard Dulater (Allen J.
Tannenbaum), fill out the cast.

Stephan Dichter arranged the
music, which includes an octet by
Mark Sullivan called "The Bareasters."
John Robins, William
Wilson, and Raymond Felton provided
sets and lighting. Francis
Gordon is the director and Nancy
L. Smith is stage manager of the
show, which is produced annually
by the Phi Delta Phi legal fraternity.
