Delegation Honored
In Model UN Tourney

Representing the University at
a model United Nations held at
the University of North Carolina
last weekend, a delegation of 5
students won top honors. They
debated for Chile in the General
Assembly.

The delegation, headed by
graduate student, Rod Rodriguez,
was voted the best delegation at
the Middle South Model Unite
Nations. West Point was awarded
an honorable mention. About 70
delegations from the East and
South competed in the gathering
held March 6-10.

The delegations were judged
by professors and moderators
who heard the committee and
plenary sessions. Delegations were
rated on preparation, rules of
procedure, oration, negotiation,
ability, types of resolutions
presented, and the number of
resolutions passed.

The University delegation had
three of seven resolutions passed
in the model General Assembly.

Attending the assembly along
with Mr. Rodriguez were Joel
Finger, Graduate History; Gerald
Kopplin, Graduate Foreign Affairs,
Drew Upton, College 3,
Foreign Affairs; and Kim Hopper,
College 1, Foreign Affairs.
