Strike Continues To Monday

30 students marched to the Corner
and showed signs to passing
motorists reading "Honk for
Peace."

In the afternoon rally, over 400
students heard a student from Kent
State University talk about the
killing of four students there
Monday by National Guardsmen.

The students indicated that the
Guardsmen had been retreating
from the students when almost 20
Guardsmen turned and fired into
the crowd. He stated that only
about 100 feet separated the
students and soldiers at the time of
the shooting.

On questioning from the
audience, the students stated that
some of the students had been
throwing rocks at the soldiers but
that he felt that the Guardsmen
were not in any danger at the time
they shot at the students.

Finally, the students indicated
that the Guardsmen had been called
onto the campus after student
disorders had erupted in the town
where the university is located and
following the burning of a ROTC
building.

Dan West, a third-year student
in the McIntire School of
Commerce indicated that members
of the Commerce Council had
voted to urge all Commerce
students to "take time from class to
participate in the strike activities
and to voice individual opinions"
on the strike committee's nine
demands.

Dave Kunsman, the past
secretary of the Engineering School
told the audience that many
students in the Engineering School
had not been striking and that he
would help lead students to
persuade Engineering students to
boycott classes.

Ed Pancoast, a fourth-yearman
in the Architecture School
indicated that one third of the
Architecture students were
supporting the strike and a meeting
had been called for Monday and
Tuesday of next week to discuss
possible action by the students and
faculty.

The students then voted upon
and approved a schedule of future
events for the strike.
