Stink Bombs Thrown
By Wisconsin Blacks
Bands of Negro students ended
sit-ins on two campuses yesterday,
one claiming victory, the other
vowing to continue their fight for
student power.
At the University of Chicago,
still simmering in the aftermath of a
16-day student occupation of the
Administration Building, stench
bombs were set off in six campus
buildings. A march on the school's
Law Building was met by locked
doors and plans were afoot to
disrupt a disciplinary committee
hearing later in the day.
Stink bombs were also thrown
into at least four buildings at the
University of Wisconsin, where
similar activities brought National
Guardsmen to the campus earlier
this month. The stink bombs were
flung after protesters marched to an
auditorium chanting, "On strike,
shut it down."
