Movie, Talks, Dance Highlight
Poverty Symposium At RMWC

A two-day symposium on
poverty to discuss the causes, consequences,
and implications of
"The Other America" will be
held Friday and Saturday at
Randolph-Macon College in
Lynchburg.

Titled "Can We Afford the
Poor?," the symposium is sponsored
by the college branch of
the YWCA.

In conjunction with the discussion
there will also be a
combo party Saturday night for
those in attendance.

Leading the poverty discussion
exploring the causes, consequences,
and implications of "The
Other America" will be Claude
Brown, author of "Manchild in
the Promised Land," Bennetta
Washington, Director of Women's
Job Corps Centers, and
Henry Clark, associate professor
of religion at Duke University.

On Friday night, guests will be
able to meet the speakers and see
the film "I'm Here Now."

Saturday's program includes
speeches by the three visiting
lecturers and an informal discussion
with them following with
all guests invited to participate.
