News-In-Brief
Nixon Panel Open To Public
Government majors are
encouraged to attend. The
meeting is open to the public.
Faculty Discussion
Interested Arts and Solences
faculty members may attend a
quasi-formal meeting to discuss
"student expectations,"
Faculty Dean Robert D. Cross
announced at the Dec. 21
College faculty meeting. The
meeting, the second in a series
begun by Mr. Cross to "discuss
the character and direction of
our liberal arts program," is
tentatively scheduled Jan. 10
at 5:15 p.m. in the Colonnade
Club.
The discussion will examine,
"the different parcels of career,
cognitive and social hope
which students bring with
them as first-year people," Mr.
Cross said.
"I may be wrong; but I
sense that it is particularly hard
for many faculty to recognize
just who and what they are
dealing with – quite apart
from the subsequent question
of what they intend to do
themselves," he said. "We can't
know what first-year students
expect until we know what
they want. We need
interchange of ideas."

The Committee To Write

The committee urges the

cause."
