Ruggers Take Third Straight

By Jim Naitzman

Still undefeated, the Virginia
Rugby Football Club beat a tough
Georgetown University team in
Washington on Saturday. Virginia
gained its third victory by
the narrow margin of 6-3.

The Georgetown ruggers stung
the Cavaliers by scoring first on a
50 yard run in the first period.
Georgetown slipped their fullback
into the line giving them an extra
back and caught Virginia off guard
with the score.

Virginia's first score came midway
in the second period when
Butch Dietler fell on a loose ball
in the Georgetown end zone. The
match remained a tie until the
last second of the game. There was
a set serum on Georgetown's five
yard line. Virginia professor,
George McCullum, stole the ball
and Allie Duckworth went across
for the try just as the final whistle
sounded.

Virginia's "B" team also won.
The ruggers are shooting for
victory number four this weekend
against Washington in the annual
Colonel's Cup Match.
