As chilly gusts begin to
force athletics indoors, the
Virginia Gymnastics Club again
is cranking up for a full winter
season of competition. The
Club, under the patient
guidance of Tom Trimble, is
currently trying to become a
regular varsity sport.

"Right now we need about
15 more boys to complete the
squad," he said. "All those
interested please stop by the old
gym and hit a practice in the
afternoon — positively no experience
is needed."

Mr. Trimble, an instructor in the
physical education department,
coached at Old Dominion University
before joining the faculty here
at Virginia. He is in charge of all
courses dealing with tumbling activities.

Planning exhibitions throughout
central Virginia for the Club, Mr.
Trimble also is looking forward to
dual meets, which begin with action
against UNC on December 12.
Other scheduled opponents include:
Ga. Tech, ODU, WVa, Towson,
W&M, Memphis State, Montgomery,
and Frostburg.

"If we start getting a few more
circus performers, hand bouncers,
and gymnasts we can go all the
way," Mr. Trimble said. "This
should be Virginia's best gymnastic
showing in twenty years."
