Ruggers Wreck W&L

Recently the Virginia Rugby
Club sent its second side to
Lexington to participate in a four
team tourney hosted by
Washington and Lee. The Turques
responded to the challenge by
winning the weekend affair.

First to fall to the strong
Turques was the home standing
W&L squad. Rallying for 11 points
in the first half, the Turques
polished off the Generals, 24-16.
Tes by Millichap, Barberr, and
Williams, coupled with a Paul
Bishop conversion, accounted for
Virginia's first period scoring.

Refusing to show any mery,
the Turques continued to dominate
the second half action. Bishop
converted twice and tried once.
Bowden and Millichap also gained
triples to offset three triples and two
conversions by the Generals.

In the championship round the
Turques dumped a spirited corps of
VMI Keydets, 15-9. VMI stayed
close the entire match, but the
Turques would not relinquish the
lead. Despite poor backfield play
the Keydets trailed only 10-9 at
halftime.

Three penalty kicks by VMI
could not quite equal triples by
Bishop and Scheerer and two
Bishop conversions for the Turques.
The serum was paced by Clay
RAtteri and Will O'Keefe.

Paul Bishop provided all of the
second period fireworks as he tried
and converted his one attempt. The
final tally showed the Turques
ahead, 15-9.

The Turques finished their
domestic season with a strong
16-1-1 mark.
