Fencing Roundup

Seeking to improve upon their
current 3-4 record before the
conference championships, the
Cavalier fencers will host several
squads this weekend in meets
Friday and Saturday.

Friday night brings V.M.I. to
challenge the Wahoos in the pee,
foll, and sabre. The meet will be
held in the ballroom of Newcomb
Hall beginning at 8 p.m. The
Virginia team has momentum as a
result of a defeat of William and
Mary last week after incurring two
of the four losses by small margins.

Saturday brings teams from
North Carolina State and North
Carolina to join V.M.I. and Virginia
in quadrangular meet in Memorial
Gym from noon to 4 p.m. On
March 14th, the Wolfpack squad
will host the Atlantic Coast Conference
for its championship meet.
The tournament at N.C. State will
culminate the first year that fencing
has officially been recognized as a
varsity sport in the conference.

All competition during the next
two weeks will be in preparation
for the team's trip to the N.C.A.A.
meet to be held March 19-21 at
Notre Dame.
