High Point Champion Zete
Opens With Win Over TKE

By Sandy Prater

High-Point League Intramural
football action got underway Wednesday,
highlighted by two major
upsets and predictably overwhelming
victory of defending champion
Zete.

Usually rugged SPE was surprisingly
defeated by Thea Chi,
due largely to the efforts of Tom
Koch, who registered two touchdowns.
In another upset of sorts,
Sigma Chi, ed by Rich Doulen,
edged ZBT, in a real defensive
battle, which included a scoreless
second half.

In other games around the League,
P Kap displayed a good
scoring punch as it crushed a weak
Phi Sig contingent, 45-0. Mike
Chewning was particularly outstanding
for the Pi Kaps as he
scored four TD's.

ATO completely overwhelmed
Sigma Nu 39-0, as they were led
by Art Kirk and Rick Dygv,
who scored two markers each.
Bill Dandridge's three touchdowns
proved too much for St. Elmo,
as he led Chi Phi to a 32-0
victory.

TKE had the misfortune of being
the first victim of powerful Zete.
Jim Potter's two touchdowns were
instrumental in the 25-2 drubbing
of the unfortunate TKEs.

Due to a punchless offensive attack,
AEPi was defeated 18-12
by Sigma Pi, and Phi Kap had
the easiest victory of all as it
won by forfeit over Sigma Phi.

Two games were marked by outstanding
individual defensive play.
Bobby Snoddy's tenacious defensive
performance plagued Chi
Psi all afternoon, as he led SAE
to a 12-6 victory, and John Martinez
and Bob Giffen harassed the
Delta Sig quarterback continually
and eventually forced a safety as
KA defeated its hopeless opponent
15-0.
