Rick Miller
Tops Golfers

Fourth-yearman Rick Miller
fired a final round 72, one under
par for the Keswick Country Club
Course, to win the golf team
qualifying tournament with a
72-hole total of 308 two weeks ago.

King Oehmig finished second
three strokes back in the event,
which was played over a
two-weekend period in rainy,
overcast weather.

Fourteen players qualified for
this sixteen man squad, with two
players exempt. Five lettermen
were among the qualifiers, along
with a similar number
first-yearmen.

Coleman Third

Bill Coleman, a first-yearman,
finished third in the tournament
with 314 to lead the newcomers,
while Bill Hickson, who tied for
fourth with letterman Tom
MacPherson at 317, topped the
non-lettermen.

Trailing the first five were
second-yearmen Henry Stevens
(319) and Brad Reynolds (320).
Lettermen Ben Gray and Mike
Mozur, and second-yearman Marty
Gerr all were at 322.

The qualifiers were rounded out
by four first-yearmen: Jeff
Haberern (324), Rick Monkman,
(327), Bill Gascione (329), and
Chip Perry (335).

Stenson Exempt

Exempted from qualifying were
team captain Britt Stenson,
sidelined by illness, and letterman
Phil Crane, who is playing varsity
soccer.

The team is now having further
competition to establish rankings
for the spring season, which will be
highlighted by the state and
conference championships and a
possible trip to Scotland over
Spring break for a special
intercollegiate tournament.
