ranking in this weeks UPI college
football by receiving 25 first place
votes to lead second-ranked Notre
Dame (8) and third-ranked Texas
(0), while North Carolina, coming
off a 27-0 victory over Illinois,
moved into a tie for 19th position.
Duke, this week's homecoming
opponent, was ranked 20th in the
AP poll predicting another tough
game for the Cavaliers following
last weeks trouncing by
fourth-ranked Michigan. The game
of the week: 7th ranked Auburn
against 8th ranked Tennessee.
