Sailors Prepare For Water

The University of Va. Sailing
Association has announced an ambitious
schedule for the Spring semester.
Probably of most interest
to the University community is the
Sailing Instruction Program that the
Association is setting up which will
be open to everyone in the University
community. A Sailing Instruction
meeting will be held at 7:30
PM on Wednesday, Feb. 17 in
Room 4A in Newcomb Hall. The
instruction program will be aimed
at anyone who is interested in
learning how to sail.

The Association also hopes to
set up race tactics seminars for
those people who are interested in
the more sophisticated aspects of
sailing.

The Sailing Association plans an
active racing schedule on two
fronts. A club trophy has been
established for a series of Sunday
afternoon races which will take
place in March and April and will
be open to all Association members.
Also planned are regattas with
several SAISA sailing teams from
such schools as Duke, Davidson,
and Clemson. Optimistic UVa
sailors hope to have the boats in the
water by March 1st with the first of
the Sunday series being held on
March 7.

Anyone in the University community
interested in sailing is invited
to join the Sailing Association
and make full use of the club's
sailboats.
