Facing its biggest challenge of
the season, the Virginia Ski Team is
entered in two tournaments later
this week.

Thursday and Friday the
slopemen tackle the downhill and
giant slalom competition offered by
fifteen other colleges at the
Southern Intercollegiate held at
Beech Mountain (N.C.). Virginia is
out to defend the team title it
claimed in last year's action. Top
challenger should be little
Appalachian State, which is led by
two hight touted Bostonians.

Virginia is allowed to enter four
skiers at Beech. The local
contingent will include Rick Miller,
John Mowinckel, Chris Galvin, and
Brew Moseley. At last year's
contest Moseley walked away with
the downhill honors and copped
the second spot in individual
performance.

Sunday the skimen face another
large assignment as they trek to the
Homestead to defend their title,
which they have claimed the past
two seasons. If the slopers are
successful in garnering the first spot
again, the trophy will be retired.
Chris Galvin, a second-year man,
skied his way to the winner's circle
at last year's meeting.

All members of the Virginia Ski
Team are invited to enter the action
Sunday at 1 p.m. Girls and guys
both can make the scene.
