Malletmen Ready

The University Polo Club
will open its fall season this
Sunday with a match against
the Middleburg polo club at 2
p.m. at the Farmington Hunt
Club Arena.

Emerging as a strong organization
and a very talented
team, the club could go far this
year in the Intercollegiate
circuit.

The club will hold an open
meeting today to introduce
first year students to the organization,
and welcomes ladies to
attend to hear the President
explain the new program for
women in the club.

The line-up for Sunday's
game will consist of the first
match of a revitalized team.
First-year student Reid
Graham, a 2 goal player from
Darien, Conn., will put on his
first performance for the
University club; he will be
joined by veterans Ray Norton,
David Banks, and John Stuart.

Ray Norton sat out last
year to conserve his eligibility
to play for the University, and
is expected to return with his
fiery style of play on Sunday.

Returning from an
outstanding season last spring
and a summer session of hard
riding, Tennessee polo
President David Banks
promises new excitement for
the crowds this fall.

John Stuart, who first
played for the University
varsity last spring, has put in a
summer of hard work on his
game and emerged as a young
star in Middleburg polo. Mr.
Stuart was a member of the
recent winning team in the
circuit six goal tournament in
Middleburg.

The University club will
face a team led by alumnus
Dick Rimenschneider which
threatens to be tough
opposition, and an opportunity
for the club to show its new
prowess.

President Banks has called
the meeting today to give the
first year students a chance to
see the opportunities that the
club can offer its members.

MR' Banks announced that
first-year ladies would also be
welcome at the club if they
have any interest in riding or
playing. Girls would be offered
the opportunity to exercise the
ponies, learn the game, and
generally enjoy the company
of the polo club members.
