Writers Honor
Case, Gerry
Perhaps burdened with guilt at
having ostracized Virginia players in
previously announced All-ACC
teams, or perhaps just being confronted
with the obvious at the
tournament in Charlotte, the ACC
Sportswriters Association named
Chip Case to the first team
all-tournament squad and Bill Gerry
to the second team.
State's Van Williford was a
unanimous choice for the first
team, as was Charlie Davis of Wake
Forest, and Tom Owens and Tom
Riker of South Carolina.
With Gerry on the second team
were Charlie Scott of UNC, John
Roche, and State's Ed Leftwich and
Joe Dunning.
The balloting went as follows on
a basis of two points for first, and
one point for second teams:
Williford | 112 |
Davis | 103 |
Owens | 90 |
Case | 86 |
Riker | 75 |
Scott | 70 |
Roche | 69 |
Gerry | 54 |
Leftwich | 41 |
Dunning | 29 |
