Ruggers Travel March 20

Members of Virginia's Rugby
Club will tour Great Britain for two
weeks later this month as a
representative of the United States
Rugby Union.

Flying out of New York with
Brown University's rugby team,
they will land in London on March
21st. They will then travel to
Edinburgh, Scotland for their
first match, with Scottish Wayfarers
on March 23rd. Later they will play
Royal High School Old Boys,
among whom number many professional
players.

With a game against Osterly on
the 26th the 34 players who will be
selected this Sunday and some 20
friends will have a chance to just
look around on the trip back to the
British capital.

On the 27th the Cavalier Ruggers
will play Windsor at the foot of
Windsor Castle. This same day
Virginia's undefeated B squad will
enter the London Port Authority
City Tournament.

During their second week in
England they will travel to Cambridge
to play a team from
Cambridge University. Their last
match will be with the Old
Hamptonians in London. The party
will return to the United States on
April 4th.

Once back in Charlottesville
they will have a short break before
playing Philadelphia on the second
weekend in April. This Philadelphia
club ranked as the number 1 club
team in the east last spring,
defeating Washington by a very
close score for the honors. Washington
defeated Virginia by two
goals last fall and will be in town
for a rematch next weekend.

The rest of the rugby season will
be spent in tournament competition.
Heading the list will be the
Richmond Tournament the weekend
after the Philadelphia game,
and it will include teams from
Richmond, Randolph Macon, and

VCU. At the end of April the
Virginia ruggers will tour North
Carolina, playing teams such as
N.C. State, Duke, Chapel Hill.

Fatly in May the Cavaliers will
go to New York to take part in the
Schaeffer Beer Tournament.
