Katz Takes
3rd Place

Joe Painter of VPI huffed his
way to victory Saturday in the
annual running of the 10,000 meter
Lexington to Buena Vista road race
for distance runners.

Featuring runners from West
Virginia, William & Mary, VMI,
VPI, Washington & Lee, and
Virginia, the race was run under
overcast skies and 40 degree
weather. Finishing 10 yards behind
Painter was Carl Hatfield of West
Virginia, and third was Rick Katz,
captain of the Virginia cross
country team.
