college basketball team in
America, according to the
latest UPI rankings.

Johnny Wooden's powerful
Bruins notched still another
milestone last Saturday when
they recorded a record-setting
61st consecutive victory in a
contest with Notre Dame.
They hold a commanding lead
over second-ranked N.C. State.

Maryland, another ACC
team, trails the Wolfpack in
third position while North
Carolina, the third ACC Top
Twenty team, fell from third to
eighth spot after dropping
games to both Maryland and
Virginia.
