Maryland, N.C.State Share
Week's Conference Heroes

By CLARK EMERSON

Maryland and North
Carolina State players shared
honors yesterday in Atlantic
coast Conference Player of the
Week balloting.

Selected by ACC
sportswriters were Wolfpack
cornerback Mike Stultz, for his
second player of the week
award this season, and defense
tackle Ken Scott of Maryland.

North Carolina State guard
Bob Blanchard and Terp
quarterback Al Neville were
named offensive players of the
week.

Stultz, a former tailback,
stymied one Duke threat with
a fourth-quarter interception
on his own five yard line and
knocked down three other
Blue Devil passes. He also
returned three punts for a 12
yard average.

Scott, making three
important defensive plays,
twice forced fumbles in leading
the Terps against Wake Forest.
He participated in seven
tackles, one a sack of the Dec
quarterback for an 11 yard
loss.

Neville, last season's ACC
passing leader, was credited
with 199 total yards, including
two touchdowns, one a
25-yard run and the other a
pass to tight end Don Ratliff.
Blanchard's line play was
deemed a key factor in N.C.
State's rushing total of 275
yards.
