"Pigskin Prognostications" is another production
of South Rivanna Graphics, Inc.

For those students who
haven't seen Jimmy the
Greek's line on Saturday's
college football games, here is
the next best thing: the debut
of the 1972 Pigskin
Prognostications.

Following the usual policy,
the list of games features ACC
teams with a sprinkling of
inter-sectional contests between
top-rated powers.

Unanimous Picks

This week's schedule
produced rare harmony among
the Proggers as all ten
members picked Stanford to
reverse last year's upset loss to
Duke at Durham, Maryland to
top the VMI Cadets,
fourth-ranked Tennessee to
manhandle Wake Forest, and
Florida State's Gary Huff to
lead the Seminoles over the
Hokies of VPI.

Seven of the ten prophets
are counting on Rice to dump
Clemson in a night game, with
Dirty Doug Doughty, Sports
Information Director Barney
Cooke, and veteran Davis
Marshall sticking by Clemson's
side.

Battle In God's Country

In a big ACC game, the
defending champion North
Carolina Tar Heels tangle with
the Wolfpack of N.C. State at
Chapel Hill. In spite of their
impressive 30-3 destruction of
Syracuse, the boys from State
were able to add only Cooke
and Marshall to their list of
supporters. Marshall, a
three-year seer, might have
some inside scouting reports on
this game.

UCLA Has Tough Test

Saturday's most important
game features the Michigan
Wolverines in Los Angeles
against the rejuvenated Bruins
of UCLA. John Markon and
Marshall think that the Wolves
can stop Harmon, Inc., but the
rest of the expert panel sees
the Bruins on top.

Deadlock Among Proggers

By far the toughest game to
pick is the SMU-Florida game
in Tampa. The Proggers call
this one a toss-up, with
Buckeye Bill Berno, former
editor Ernest Dempsey and
speedster Fletcher Thompson
leading five 'Gator fans, and
Tumbling Tom Bell throwing
his weight around with Steve
Gaske to spearhead the
Mustang pickers.

Randy "Per" Wert teams
with Doughty to favor the
Ramblin' Wrecks of Georgia
Tech over Michigan State.
They are opposed by a large
number of colleagues.

Markon, the defending Prog
titlist, has graciously
handicapped himself this year
by picking the Green Wave of
Tulane over Georgia. He is
alone on that choice.
