Seven Remain Undefeated,
Cornhuskers Firm On Top

As a result of Oklahoma's
"unimpressive" 20-3 romp over
Missouri the Nebraska Cornhuskers,
37-0 winners over Iowa State,
solidified their hold on the number
one spot in the latest UPI poll.

Michigan, fresh off a 63-7
pounding of Iowa, ranks third,
followed by Alabama, Auburn,
Georgia and Penn State. Alabama
was pressed last Saturday before
edging LSU while the Nittany Lions
rolled over Maryland. Georgia and
Auburn, both winners last week,
face each other Saturday in a battle
of unbeatens.

Notre Dame overwhelmed Pitt's
Panthers, and holds down eighth
spot with Arizona State, WAC title
favorite and Stanford, Pacific Eight
titlist, rounding out the Top Ten.

Leading the lower echelon are
Colorado and Tennessee, both two
game losers, and Middle America
Conference stalwart Toledo,
working on a 30 game winning
streak. Houston, a team just now
getting on track, ranks fourteenth.

North Carolina of the ACC is
one of a group of four teams that
lay claim to the fifteenth spot.
Others in that battle are Texas,
Michigan State and Southern Cal
with Florida State and Ohio State,
tied for nineteenth.
