Cagers Hustle To Fourth Win
Annapolis, Md. Virginia's big
men. Bill Gerry and Scott
McCandlish, tallied 42 points
between them yesterday afternoon
as Bill Gibson's basketball team
rolled over Navy 81-63 in a
non-conference game.
With McCandlish connecting on
11 of 16 shots from the floor and
Gerry 7 or 11 the outcome was
never in doubt as both Cagers swept
the boards of rebounds in leading
the unbeaten Cavaliers to their
fourth straight win. The
Midshipmen managed to stay on
the heels of Virginia until there
were about eight minutes left in the
initial half, with the Cavaliers
holding a 19-14 lead. Then
supersub. Chip Miller entered the
line-up and ignited a surge which
didn't end until Virginia was
leading 36-18. The halftime score
was 39-25.
