Signing Of Four Ohioans
Announced By Blackburn

Four high school football starts
from Ohio have been signed to
grants-in-aid at the University.

Defensive coordinator Don
Lawrence made the trip to Ohio
last week to sign the three linemen
and one cornerback.

Head coach George Blackburn
expressed pleasure with the way the
recruiting program is progressing
and stated, "We hope to have most
of the 35 we intend on signing by
the opening of spring practice
March 2nd."

The four signed last week bring
to 21 the number of football
prospects announcing their intention
of entering the University this
fall.

Two of the signed prospects
come from Mentor High School in
Cleveland. They are 6-2, 210-pound
Paul Ryczek, a defensive end and
offensive tackle, and 6-0, 195
pound Paul Burkhart, a cornerback
and offensive end. Paul Ryczek is
the brother of this year's Virginia
co-captain and center, Dan Ryczek.
Paul was chosen the lineman of the
year in the greater Cleveland area
and decided on the University over
Ohio State.

Burkhart was another greater
Cleveland area choice and also
made his all-conference squad. He
chose Virginia over several Mid american
and Big Ten Universities.

Dale Dickerson and Kevin Ryan
are the other two signees who are
both 6-3, 230 pound tackles.
Dickerson was captain of
Willoughby South High School and
another first team great Cleveland
selection. Ryan played at Charles F.
Brush in Lyndhurst where he was
first team all-Lake Eric and was
selected as the outstanding offensive
and defensive player of his
squad.
