Virginia Signs
Three to Grants

Three football grants-in-aid have
been given by the University of
Virginia. One goes to the first black
athlete ever to receive an athletic
scholarship from Virginia.

He is Stanley Land from
Rockbridge High School in
Rockbridge County, Virginia. At
6-3, 210 pounds, Land played
defensive end and offensive
fullback at Rockbridge.

Another signee was Ronnie
Stevens from down the road at
Nelson County High School.
Stevens is 6-3, 202 pounds, and
played quarterback where he won a
first team berth on this year's
All-Central Virginia team.

The last signee was Leroy Still
from Patchogue High School. At
6-1 and 235 pounds, Still played
defensive and offensive tackle.
