Horsemen Score
In Pickup Match

While most attention was
focused on the Tobacco Bowl
excitement in Richmond this
weekend, the University polo team
rode to their first victory of the fall
season on Sunday out at Brookhill
Farm.

Originally scheduled to play
host to a team from Middleburg,
the Cavalier malletmen scored an
easy win in what ended up as a
semi-pick up game against a team
composed of fellow teammates
John Stewart and Tom Martin, and
local players Ray Norden and Harry
Robertshaw, last year's head coach.

Playing with a different lineup,
Col. Harry Wilson's University team
had DAVE Banks playing numb
one, second-year man Rob Rinehart
playing number two, and the usual
number one man John Cutler in the
number three position

Calling themselves Atlanta, the
visitors drew first blood as Tom
Martin scored their first and only
goal of the first half in the early
minutes of the initial chukkar. Not
to be outdone, Dave Banks quickly
came back to tie the score at one
apiece to finish the scoring for the
first period. In the second, both
Banks and Rinehart scored once.
The match then settled down into a
defensive battle, with neither team
being able to get on the scoreboard
until the third chukkar when John
Stewart broke through to score the
first of his two goals.

Rinehart, the high scorer of the
day, tallied twice in the second
half, and John Cutler put the game
out of reach by driving home two
goals in the fourth and final
chukkar.
