In IM Basketball

SAE, Phi Gam On Top

By Mike Blomm

It was another action-filled evening
at Memorial Gymnasium as the
IM'ers
got down to the serious business of
battling for divisional honors. After
the dust had settled, five teams had
protected their unbeaten records
and only SAE in Division B held
sole leadership of its division.

In Division A surprising Sigma
Chi headed towards tonight's
showdown with mighty Phi Gam by
dumping winless Sigma Phi, 49-20.
The Phi Gams also remained unbeaten
by cruising past hapless Pi
Kap 65-38 as Bill Buck bolstered
his 19.5 average by pouring in 21.
The Pi Kaps were led by an 18
point performance from
Mike Slaysman.

Elsewhere in Division A, Beta
fell from the ranks of the unbeaten
by dropping a 33-32 thriller to
Theta Delt, and PiKA improved its
record to 3-1 by downing Delta Sig
47-32 as Bruce Broecker and Pete
Saunders hit for 19 and 12 points,
respectively.

The race in Division B is settling
down to a battle for second place as
SAE continues to tower over the
opposition. They rolled to their
fourth straight by crushing KA
70-39 as Bob Corr and, Roger
Holtzman combined for 30 points.
Tom Sansonetti led the KA cause
with 14.

Sigma Pi tripped Theta Chi
43-26 as Ed McClamme led the
winners with 12. Bob Hine clicked
for 16 and led St. A to a 41-30
victory over DKE, despite Saint
Lee's 15 points.

Steve Brick man had 17 points
and Steve Schiff added 14 more as
the AEPi's romped past Chi Psi
Zete and Sigma Nu kept their
records perfect and Phi Kap remained
a mere game behind the
leaders in the fast and furious
action of Division D. The Zetes
overwhelmed SAM 60-39 behind
Dick Reld and Tyler Harris who hit
for 15 points apiece. The SAMs got
14 points from Lynn Martin.

Sigma Nu clobbered Phi Psi
47-29 to match the Zetes for first
place. Harry Kuhn led the victors
with 14 and Dwyer McClung tallied
16 for Phi Psi.

Phi Kap kept pace with the
leaders as they routed Phi Sig,
67-33, with Bob Bischoff getting 14.
In the final game of Division D PEP
bounced winless Pi Lam, 42-30, as
Bob Fagin and Bill Greenberger
poured in 20 and 18 points apiece.
The Pi Lams were led by Phil
Gegoudis with 12 points.
