Final Mark 1—5

Gymnasts Finish Tough Season

Closing out the season with their
fifth loss in six contests, the
University of Virginia Gymnastic
team fell at the hands of Virginia
Tech, 122-108.

Livingston Takes First

The Cavaliers started off quickly
with second-year man Bill
Livingston taking a first in free
exercise followed by first-year man
Brad O'Neill who finished third.

O'Neill also took second place in
vaulting. Last week against Old
Dominion College, O'Neill was the
sole first place finisher, capturing
the vaulting event.

On the side horse, first-year man
Jack Kinkaid was the only scorer
for the Cavaliers with a third place
finish. Kinkaid has been showing
continued improvement throughout
the season.

Adamson First On Rings

Eric Adamson, co-captain of the
team, captured a first place on the
still rings with an exceptionally well
executed routine. Adamson, one of
the two fourth yearmen on the
youthful team, placed third on the
rings against ODC.

High bar specialist Bob Simmons
was performing well in his event
and had a first place just about
wrapped until his hands "ripped"
and he was unable to complete his
routine.

Rick Lutz placed in two events,
with a second on the parallel bars
and a third on the horizontal bar to
finish the meet.

The meet was greatly
handicapped by a novice judge who
needed constant consultation with
the coaches on the fundamentals of
scoring the events.

Future Bright

Despite the poor record the
gymnasts have compiled, they are
quite satisfied with the amount of
experience gained by the young
team and they're looking forward to
a great improvement next season.
