Polomen Rebound
Over Brandywine

Rebounding from Cornell, the
Virginia Polo Team demolished the
high-ranking Brandy wine Polo Club
6-2, in a fast moving game Sunday.
The Cavaliers fielded the powerful
combination responsible for the
past victories: Willie McCormick at
one, captain Ray Norden at two,
and Rob Rinehart at back.

The Brandywine line-up was
Pete Thompson at one, Pete
Orthwein at two, and George
Greenhalgh at three. Orthwein,
twice captain of the powerful
Cornell team, is rated at three goals.
Virginia was awarded one goal by
handicap, due to the Brandywine
superiority in national ratings.

The first chukker began with
the same type of defensive
maneuvering which characterized
last week's game, but captain
Norden managed to score a goal.

Again in the second period, Norden
scored, only to be countered by
Orthwein for Brandywine, putting
the score for the first half at 3-1.

At the start of the third
chukker, Orthwein began to
dominate the field, scoring on a
high shot over the goal. McCormick
managed to stem the potential
Brandywine rally, and led a
powerful offensive that culminated
in a goal, boosting the Wahoos to a
more comfortable lead.

The final period was all
Virginia's, with McCormick and
Norden keeping Brandywine on the
defensive most of the time. Norden
scored once again, his third for the
game, and Rob Rinchart left his
defensive position long enough to
send one more through the
uprights, ending the contest at 6-2,
and raising Virginia's record to 4.
