Goals By Jones, Norden Defeat
Penalty Plagued Alumni Squad

By Zene Colt

Randy Jones tapped in Ray
Norden's attempted penalty on-
version shot Sunday and gave
Virginia its second polo victory of
the season. The fourth period
goal enabled the Cavaliers to edge
the Alumni 2-1 in a hard fought
contest.

The Alumni Team of Don
Grubbs at number one, Rodger
Rinehart at number two, and Don
Hanna at back was handicapped
by numerous crossing penalties in
the game, especially in the first
half.

Although neither team was able
to score in the first half of the
game, Norden gave Virginia the
lead in the third period, scoring
with an assist from his number
one, George Greenhalgh.

In the fourth period, however,
the Alumni team scored its only
goal of the afternoon and tied
the score at 1-all. The score was
registered by the team's number
three, Don Hanna, who was instrumental
all afternoon in cutting
off many Cavalier scoring attempts.

With the score still tied late in
the final period, a crossing penalty
was called on the Alumni by referee
John Cussen. The penalty shot,
made by Norden, was just wide
of the goalposts, but Jones was in
position and tapped the ball
through for a score.
