Sigma Pi Tops In Football;
PiKA Wins In Consolation
By G.D. ROTHENBERG
With the final whistle of the
1972 Hi-Point Football season
Sigma Pi found itself on top of
the tournament pyramid as the
new champion.
Zeta Psi had been bested by
Sigma Pi to the tune of 21-0
even after demonstrating its
adroitness in a big win over last
year's champs the brothers of
Phi Gamma Delta, in the
semifinal round.
Agonizing Loss
For Zeta Psi the second
place finish was an agonizing
one. In the previous four years,
they have carted home first
place trophies thrice and the
consolation winner designation
once.
This year's consolation
winner is PiKA as it rollicked
its way to a 24-12 win over
Sigma Chi.
Zeta Psi was also second
banana in the volleyball play as
it fell to ATO 15-9 in only two
games in the best-out-of-three
final round.
V-Ball Semis
In the semis, Phi Gamma
Delta lost out to eventual
champs ATO while PiKA lost
to Zeta Psi.
This year's consolation
winner was Phi Epsilon Pi as it
edged DKE by winning two
out of three contests in that
competition.
Military fans had plenty to
whoop about as Army ROTC's
football team massacred Navy
ROTC in their locking of horns
last week by a 49-16 margin. It
was an upset win for the boys
in green over their numerically
superior inter-service rivals.
