Women's Tennis Flex Muscles,
Whitewash William & Mary

By G.D.ROTHENBERG

At William and Mary
Tuesday, the women's tennis
team came up with a 9-0
whitewash against a hapless
group of Indians, or Squaws if
you will and upped its team
record to 7-1 for the season.

Leading the Wahooettes in
their penultimate match of the
season were Lindsay Burn,
Beth Krieger, Brucie Gibson,
Lore Steinhauser, Carolyn
Gentry and Diatly Hatten in
the singles matches.

Doubles Play

In the doubles, the
withdrawal of Miss Krieger due
to sunstroke moved everyone
up a notch and Sandy Stone
got a chance to share in one of
the three doubles triumphs.

Close Event

One of the closest events of
the contest was in the doubles
setment when Ace Lindsay
Burn and Brucie Gibson had to
battle through a three-setter to
win.

Net Depth

Once again, the netwomen
demonstrated that depth is the
cornerstone to any tennis
program. Notwithstanding the
fact that William and Mary was
without the services of one of
their two top competitors, the
Indians proved to be a shallow
team overall.

Today's home match with
Stratford College has been
canceled. Hence, next week's
confrontation with
Randolph-Macon of Ashland
will be the women's finale. The
Perry Memorial Courts will be
the site of the meet next
Tuesday beginning at 3 p.m.
