...Cavalier Sports Round-up...
Tennis
The Cavalier tennis team is
in the midst of an outstanding
spring. Pending yesterday's
away meet with the University
of North Carolina, Virginia has
compiled a 13-3 overall record
while standing 4-1 in the ACC.
On March 29, the Wahoos
nipped Clemson, 5-4, but on
the following day fell to Wake
Forest, 6-3. After successive
wins over Emory (9-0) and
Georgia Tech (6-3) Virginia
was dumped by Georgia, 9-0.
Since that loss, however,
the netmen have reeled off
seven successive wins. They
have dropped Furman (7-2),
and Harvard (6-2) in a tri-meet,
N.C. State (9-0), Duke (6-3),
Hampton (9-0), William &
Mary (9-0), and Maryland
(6-3).
Pro Draft
All those who have been
anxiously waiting to find out
the draft fortunes of Barry
Parkhill will have to bide their
time until Thursday. The
N.B.A.'s draft was postponed
over the weekend due to a
dispute between the
Philadelphia 76ers and the
Seattle Supersonics.
The dispute developed
when N.B.A. commissioner
Walter Kennedy, transferred
the Sonics' first round pick to
the 76ers after John Brisker,
who recently jumped from the
A.B.A. to the elder league,
signed with the Seattle ball
club.
The 76ers own the N.B.A.
draft rights to Brisker, who has
played his entire pro carreer in
the A.B.A. Consequently, they
took the case to court, where a
federal judge ruled that
Kennedy illegally made the
decision which should have
been made by the N.B.A.
Board of Governers. The Board
will meet Wednesday.
The A.B.A. draft will take
place Tuesday and Wednesday.

"Hot Roddy"
The April 16th issue of
Sports Illustrated had feature
stories on Jack Nicklaus'
stumble at the Masters and Earl
the Pearl's success with the
Knicks. However, in C'ville, the
main interest was centered
around "Hot Roddy in the
Nets", an article on Virginia's
spectacular second-year goalie.
